— INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION
Grand Prix [DCN Beers] + Curtas Vila do Conde candidate for the European Film Awards
THAT'S HOW I LOVE YOU, Mário Macedo
Jury statement: For a film that builds from a subtle and intelligent approach to a child and his environment, building tension in a world where tenderness and cruelty can coexist, allowing us time to understand growth and how love emanates. It's a playful film that brought us joy and that will stay with us and with the audience with whom we shared the session, the jury had no hesitation in awarding the Grand Prize to THAT'S HOW I LOVE YOU, by Mário Macedo. That's how we love a film!
— PORTUGUESE COMPETITION
Best Film [School of the Arts, Catholic University of Porto + Pixel Bunker]
Jury statement: Entering directly into the intimacy of a character and the path to finding her own direction in life. We feel, in each frame, the love in the evocation, revealing a strong and affectionate woman. Through rigorous and organic shots - beautiful and tangible, whether the character was standing still or driving through the streets - in a skilfully edited film.
Best Direction [Pulsar Studios]
David Pinheiro Vicente for THE HUNTERS
Jury statement: In an almost perfectly absurd mise-en-scéne, the paths of decadence are welcomed in a feast of light. A new vision of cinema that inscribes itself in a certain history of cinema, while at the same time opening doors to new possibilities, narratives and images in this realm. We look forward to seeing this director's next film.
Audience Award [SPA Authors]
PERCEBES, Alexandra Ramires, Laura Gonçalves
– TAKE ONE! COMPETITION
Best Film [Showreel + IPDJ + Restart]
Jury statement: Slimane is set in a dystopian place, still anchored in honesty and the tension returned by bodies. A film supported by the mastery of the grammar of cinema, which rises in the remarkable final sequence of the protagonist in catharsis.
