Simão Cayatte

Biography

Simão Cayatte has worked as an actor, writer and director in Lisbon, London, and New York. He completed his BA in Drama and Theatre Arts at Goldsmiths University London in 2006 and has since acted in theatre and film with directors such as Werner Schroeder, Ivo Ferreira, Carlos Saboga and Stan Douglas. Simão completed his Film MFA program at Columbia University in New York City with Honors as a Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Fellow and subsequently interned at Protozoa Pictures, Darren Aronofsky’s production company. His short film "A Viagem" (The Trip) had its international premiere at the Cinéfondation Shorts Section of the 2011 Cannes Film Festival and was selected for a number of other international festivals. His short film "Miami" won the MotelX award for Best Portuguese Horror short of 2015 and was nominated for a Sophia Portuguese Academy Award. His most recent short film “Menina” had its national premiere at IndieLisboa 2016.
