April 25th in shorts

Published at 28 January 2024

In the year that marks half a century since the Carnation Revolution, the Portuguese Short Film Agency is joining the celebrations of Freedom and Democracy with a programme of Portuguese short films.

The April 25th in shorts programme shows the before, during and after of April 25th, from a look at resistance and fascism in films such as Abi Feijó's historic animation 'The Outlaws' or Simão Cayatte's 'Young Lady', to the memories and traumas of the colonial war in José Miguel Ribeiro's 'Fragments'.

As the Portuguese Short Film Agency's mission is to represent and promote Portuguese short films, embodying and developing activities in favour of national cinematography, we invite everyone to celebrate 50 years of Portuguese democracy in the company of this selection of films.
