The films by Mónica Lima and Maria Inês Trigo are among the award-winning Portuguese short films at the 8th Porto Femme - International Film Festival.
The short film “Human Nature” (Mónica Lima, 2023, Portugal/Germany, FIC, 25′) won the Best Short Film Award at the 2025 edition of Porto Femme – International Film Festival. The jury praised it for beautifully exploring the duality between humanity and the natural world, reminding us of the hope and meaning we can find amid despair.
Additionally, the Best Animated Film prize went to “It Shouldn't Rain Tomorrow” (Maria Trigo Teixeira, 2024, Portugal/Germany, ANI, 11′). The jury highlighted its important narrative about the social and personal pressures women face regarding caring responsibilities and bodily autonomy, praising its captivating style that resonates with the audience.
Both films, distributed by Agência – Portuguese Short Film Agency, will be screened on May 28th at 9 PM at Maus Hábitos (Porto) during the extensions of the festival — Femme Sessions.
