The films "The Long Legged Man", “Percebes”, “Ice Merchants” and “Combat” are part of the recent program of the new edition of the Semana de Cine Portugués on Latin America.
The short films “The Long Legged Man” (Vitor Hugo, 2023, Portugal, ANI, 9′), "Percebes" (Alexandra Ramires, Laura Gonçalves, 2024, Portugal/France, ANI/DOC, 11′), “Ice Merchants” (João Gonzalez, 2022, Portugal/France/UK, ANI, 14′) and “Combat” (Rita M. Pestana, 2023, Brazil/Portugal, FIC, 23′) are part of the film programs for the most recent edition of Semana de Cine Portugués. Produced and promoted by the cultural association VAIVEM, this film cycle brings the best of independent Portuguese cinema to screens in countries such as Argentina, Ecuador, Mexico, Colombia and Uruguay - territories where these works usually remain on the fringes of commercial distribution and exhibition circuits.
Between April and July, the initiative will pass through some of the most important cinematographic institutions in the region: the Cineteca Nacional do México (Mexico), the Cinemateca Uruguaya (Uruguay), the Malba Foundation (Argentina), the Cinemateca de Bogotá (Colombia) and the Cinemateca Nacional Ulises Estrella (Ecuador). This program highlights the diversity and vitality of contemporary Portuguese cinema, offering Latin American audiences a unique and alternative cinematic experience.
