International awards from Málaga, Saguenay and Roanne

The short films Percebes', 'God-And-A-Half' and 'De Imperio' were recently awarded prizes at renowned international festivals.

At the Malaga Festival, held from March 14th to 23rd, 2025, 'God-And-A-Half' (Margarida Assis, 2024, Portugal, DOC, 25′) won the Silver Biznaga Audience Award for Best Documentary Short Film, while 'Percebes' (Alexandra Ramires, Laura Gonçalves, 2024, Portugal / France, ANI / DOC, 11′) won the Silver Biznaga for Best Documentary Short Film in the Cinema Cocina category, receiving a prize of 2.000 euros. Margarida Assis' film was praised for its innovative narrative and the way it explores existential issues through a unique perspective.

Meanwhile, at the REGARD Festival in Canada, which took place from March 19th to 23rd, 2025, the film by Alexandra Ramires and Laura Gonçalves was awarded an honorable mention. The jury highlighted the depth and sensitivity with which the film approaches the lives of barnacle fishermen on the Portuguese coast.

Additionally, 'De Imperio' (Alessandro Novelli, 2023, Portugal / Spain, ANI, 13′) received the MAAAV 2025 Best Music and Sound Design Award in the Experimental Competition category at the Ciné Court Animé Roanne in France, which took place from March 17th to 23rd, 2025. The jury recognized the technical excellence and distinctive artistic approach of the short film.

These recognitions underline the quality and diversity of Portuguese cinema on the international scene, highlighting the talent of these filmmakers and the fundamental role of the Agência – Portuguese Short Film Agency in promoting these works across borders.
