‘2720’ nominated for Best European Short Film at the European Film Awards Lucerne 2024

With an impressive record that includes 9 awards and more than 37 official selections from festivals around the world, 2720 by Basil da Cunha is one of the 5 nominees for the European Film Awards, whose final ceremony takes place this year on December 7th

The European Film Academy has announced the nominees for the Best European Short Film (Prix Vimeo) at the 37th edition of the European Film Awards

Among the five nominees is '2720', a short film directed by Basil da Cunha. The film was curated by Batalha Centro de Cinema, produced by Arquipélago Filmes, and promoted and distributed by Agência – Portuguese Short Film Agency. This film was pre-nominated at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and won the Best European Short Film award earlier this year. 

The winner of the  Best European Short Film will be announced at the 37th European Film Awards ceremony on December 7th, 2024, in Lucerne, Switzerland. The other nominees in this category are Clamor (Boucan) by Salomé Da Souza, The Exploding Girl (La Fille Qui Explose) by Caroline Poggi & Jonathan Vinel, The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent (Čovjek Koji Nije Mogao Šutjeti) by Nebojša Slijepčević, and Wander to Wonder by Nina Gantz. The Best European Short Film category (Prix Vimeo) is organized by the European Film Academy in collaboration with a network of film festivals across Europe, including Curtas Vila do Conde – International Film Festival. The final list of five nominated short films was selected from a pool of 28 pre-finalists submitted by the participating festivals. The 5,000 members of the Academy are now voting for the big winner.

In addition to its EFA nomination, '2720' has been highly acclaimed worldwide. It has received 9 awards and 37 official selections at international film festivals since its premiere.
